The 4th Geo- East African Conference & Expo 2027 (GEOEACE 2027) builds on the success of previous editions and will continue to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, innovation and professional networking across geothermal energy and the broader earth sciences. While GEOEACE has traditionally drawn significant participation from East Africa, the 4th edition will intentionally broaden its reach by promoting participation from West, North, Central and Southern Africa, alongside its established East African base. This expanded participation reflects growing interest across the continent in geothermal energy, critical minerals, sustainable resource development, groundwater, geo-hazards, geological data and other areas of earth science. GEOEACE 2027 also builds on the momentum created by the successful hosting of the 30th Colloquium of African Geology (CAG30) in Nairobi from 23–27 September 2025, co-hosted by the Geological Society of Kenya (GSK) and the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf). CAG30 strengthened collaboration between the two organizations and demonstrated the value of bringing together geoscience institutions, professionals, policymakers, researchers and industry stakeholders from across Africa. The expanded geographic reach of GEOEACE 2027 is therefore intended to complement existing continental geoscience initiatives by strengthening Africa-wide knowledge exchange, professional networks and institutional cooperation. It will create opportunities for comparative learning, technical collaboration and dialogue on critical minerals, geothermal and sustainable energy development, geological data management, resource governance, investment and capacity building.
